State Agricultural Prices Board, Kerala
The State Agricultural Prices Board (SAPB) is an attached office of the Department of Agriculture, Government of Kerala. It came into existence in February 1994. The State Agricultural Prices Board operates autonomously and serves as a purely technical entity responsible for recommending price policies for major crops, studies on base price for selected crops, studies on marketing, Price analysis of agricultural commodities, studies on post harvest management, market intelligence, studies on minimum support prices, monitoring the implementation of price support programmes, regular monitoring of price of agricultural commodities, need based studies on relevant areas, new initiatives on price policies, in addition to conducting various studies and reports proposed by the Government and work on expert committees. These endeavours aim to strengthen the Boards ability to fulfil its diverse functions and provide valuable insights to support the policy making decisions at Government level.
Currently, the SAPB comprises the Chairman, Secretary, three statistical assistants and support staff. The Secretary is a Joint Director of Agriculture from the Department of Agriculture.
